Bringing Up Bates Alum Katie Bates’ Husband Travis Clark Admits to Affair Amid Pregnancy Loss At the moment, Katie Bates is just focused on getting through each day.
Bringing Up Bates: A Comprehensive Guide to Katie Bates and Her 18 Siblings
As Bringing Up Bates alum Katie Bates navigates a tough time dealing with both husband Travis Clark’s infidelity and her recent pregnancy loss, she has an overwhelming amount of support in her corner.
“This is not how I imagined beginning this year or this new season of our lives,” the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram Jan. 19, three days after she revealed she had suffered a pregnancy loss while expecting her third child—and just two days after husband Travis Clark admitted he had cheated. “This has been an incredibly painful time for me and for our family. As many now know, our marriage has been deeply hurt and my trust has been broken.”
But the mom to Hailey, 2, and Harvey, 15 months, hopes she has enough glue to piece it back together.
“After privately expressing deep regret and sorrow for his action, Travis told me he felt it was important to publicly take accountability for what he has done,” she explained of the 24-year-old, “and I support his decision and desire for transparency.”
As for the steps she’s taking, “We are working through this privately, seeking counsel both together and individually as we try to determine the best path forward for our family,” she continued. “I am also being supported by legal counsel. This is not a quick or easy process, and it is not one I am taking lightly.”
As such, she intends to work through all the heaviness at her own pace.
“Every decision about our future will be made slowly and carefully, with what is best for our family and our children as the highest priority,” she stressed in her lengthy post. “At the same time, I do believe in God’s power to restore, and my heart’s desire is to preserve our marriage.”
And should Katie need some extra support, she has quite the sizable squad in her corner.
When it comes to her family—who all appeared on their Up TV reality series Bringing Up Bates from 2015 to 2021—the 11th of Gil Bates and Kelly Bates‘ 19 children rolls deep.
Much like the similarly broad Duggar brood, the evangelical, conservative Christians are of the belief that more is more when it comes to family.
Travis Clark/Instagram“We both came to the conclusion that we just wanted to trust God with how many children we had,” Gil explained in a 2011 Nightline interview, a year before he and Kelly welcomed youngest son Jeb Bates.
“But we never really thought we’d have 18. We thought maybe one or two, maybe three.”
And yet, eldest son Zach Bates explained to Nightline, “Every year, you know, there was—just add another person, it doesn’t feel abnormal to me.”
Of course, since his parents filled their 4,000-square-foot Tennessee home with an oversized roster, it’s kept growing as he and his siblings continue bringing up new Bates offspring.
With Zach and wife Whitney Bates revealing in September that they’re expecting their sixth, Gil and Kelly’s tally of grandkids will soon top 40.
