Katie Bates Enters Intensive Therapy After Husband Travis Clark’s Affair Admission

Bringing Up Bates alum Katie Bates shared an emotional update one month after her husband Travis Clark admitted to an affair. The scandal followed shortly after Katie suffered a pregnancy loss.

The Bringing Up Bates alum announced that she is entering intensive therapy one month after her husband Travis Clark  admitted—shortly after Katie suffered a pregnancy loss—that he’d cheated on her.

“I’ve wanted to come on here and say something for a while but I honestly haven’t really known how to put words to any of this,” Katie wrote on her Instagram Stories Feb. 23. “This year didn’t start how I thought it would. It’s been really heavy and emotional in ways I wasn’t prepared for. Some days I feel okay and steady. And other days it’s hard to even leave the house.”

“I’m just trying to take it one day at a time,” she continued. “I do want to say think you though. The love, prayers, and messages I’ve received have meant more than I can explain. I don’t always know how to respond, but please know I see it and I’m grateful.”

The 25-year-old—who shares Hailey, 2, and Harvey, 16 months, with Travis—went on to explain why she’s entering the therapy program.

“I’m getting ready to attend my first four day therapy intensive,” Katie shared. “I don’t really feel equipped to handle something like this on my own, so getting help feels important. I know I can’t pout into anything else well if I’m not actually working through this in a healthy way.”

“Being mom to Hailey and Harvey and finding little pieces of normal life again has been so grounding for me,” she went on. “I’m not very good at expressing my emotions, so this probably feels scattered, but I’m trying to lean on God and He has brought me so much comfort.”

The reality star ended her message by informing her followers that she may be pulling back on sharing her life going forward, but she still appreciated all the support she’s felt from them.

“I don’t know how much I’ll share as I walk through all of this,” she explained, “or what that will look like, but I did want to say thank you for the kindness and grace you’ve shown me. It truly means a lot.”

Katie’s update comes a month after Travis first shared that he had an affair.

“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories Jan. 17. “I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone.”

“I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry,” the 24-year-old continued at the time. “I’m sorry for the pain, humiliation, and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices. I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for.”

Two days later, Katie posted that their “marriage has been deeply hurt” and her trust had been “broken” by Travis’ transgression, but she was still hoping to “preserve” their marriage.

“We are working through this privately, seeking counsel both together and individually as we try to determine the best path forward for our family,” she explained. “I am also being supported by legal counsel. This is not a quick or easy process, and it is not one I am taking lightly.”
